What will the participants be introduced to?
Comics is not about drawings; it is more about the story, the environment, the words we use and how it will connect with the audience. Of course, drawing is part of it, but you only need the basics. When it comes to comics, readers’ focus will be more on the story than how beautiful the drawings look. That’s what the participants will learn — to create a story with the help of drawings. I don’t think it has been done in Chennai before and I’m planning to conduct at least four such workshops in a year.
Is it possible to create anthology in a day?
I have the basic idea ready, which I’ll narrate to the participants in the very beginning itself. All of them will be working on their part to complete the story. It is like a relay — one person develops the story further from where the previous person left. And everybody will take home a complete anthology.
Opportunities available now for artists?
The world is becoming more and more visual-oriented and mobile phone-centric. To scroll down to read the text is considered tiring. They just want the messages communicated to them effortlessly. Visuals are gradually replacing the text. In such a scenario, opportunities for artists are aplenty. Even in the process of creating mobile phone applications, visual artists play an important role now.
