Naval Officer engages in rescuing the people from the floods through a Helicopter

Flag Officer Commanding -in-Chief ,Eastern Naval Command (ENC) Vice Admiral Satish Soni said that the Command has been actively participating in the flood relief operations in Chennai which was hit by the recent rains under operation “Madad” by sending its ships and helicopters with material and relief teams to participate in the rescue and relief operations.
Addressing a press conference here on board INS Sahyadri, Vice Admiral said INS Airavat had been sailed with dispatch and was arriving off Chennai Thursday evening . The ship is carrying disaster relief stores including one helicopter, one medical brick, medial teams, one naval store pallet, ten victualing pallets, 20 divers eight Gemini crafts.
Three relief teams
He said the naval authorities had deputed three flood relief team comprising of 20 sailors (five divers and 15 good swimmers) with Gemini and associated gears deployed Wednesday to Gandhi Nagar. Another team was deputed Thursday to RDO Office, Tambaram. The team has been directed to report to Secretary Tourism designated as Monitoring Officer. Another team from Rajali, naval air station consisting of two officers 50 sailors and 200 packets was deployed to RDO Tambaram office for central flood relief Operation thereafter.
