ISRO focusses on low-cost access to space
The Indian Space Research Organisation is going ahead with the research on heavy lift launchers and reusable launch vehicles, with an eye on low cost access to space

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman Dr Aluru Seelin Kirankumar today said that ISRO is moving forward with the development of heavy lift launchers and reusable launch vehicles, focusing on the low cost access to space. He said that the Space technology’s applications in prediction of cyclones, national disaster warnings and others has helped in saving many lives and properties.
Speaking on ‘Space Technology and Societal Applications’ organised as part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha Golden Jubilee Endowment lecture series here Dr Kumar said that the low cost ‘Gagan’ Space Satellite has proved to be invaluable in providing safety to Indian Regional Navigation Satellites. He opined that India has made effective use of Space Technology to provide solutions for the development of country.
Stating that country like India where majority of its population is poor and illiterate needs motivation, the launch of broadcasting system which helped the free flow of information to the public was the need of the hour.
