Hollande concludes historic India visit

President Francois Hollande today concluded his three-day state visit, culminating in his presiding over as the Chief Guest of India's Republic Day parade, that symbolised meeting of the minds of the two nations with French Army troops marching past him - a first for any foreign Army.

This is the fifth time a French head of the state has been the chief guest at the Republic Day celebration. No other country has had this honour so many times. This is also the second visit of President Hollande to India.

Mr Hollande this evening attended an "At Home" reception, by his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee and met French community members at the Embassy here, before flying back to Paris.
