Post agitation, classes begin in University of Hyderabad
After more than a fortnight's protests following the suicide of Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula,, regular classes resumed at the University of Hyderabad, much to the relief of the authorities, today.

This followed detailed discussions between the interim Vice-Chancellor M.Periasamy and the students, who had also decided to allow resumption of university's administrative work.
The students, however, insisted that Vice-Chancellor Prof.P.Appa Rao, who is on leave, should not resume his duties.
The university had witnessed massive protests by students since January 17 with political leaders from different parts of the country, including Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi visiting the campus to express solidarity with the students and demanding action against those responsible for Rohith's suicide.
Meanwhile, SC and ST Commission Chairman P.L.Punia asserted that Rohith was, indeed, a Dalit, refuting claims of certain quarters to the contrary.
