Body of Lance Naik Sudeesh brought to Kerala

The body of soldier Lance Naik Sudheesh B, was brought to Thiruvananthapuram in a special flight.

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, chief secretary Jiji Thomson, senior government and Defence officials reached the airport to pay their last tribute to the 29-year-old soldier from Kerala, who died in an avalanche in Siachen.

Later, the body was brought to the Pangode Military Hospital. It was accompanied by Sudheesh's brother Lance Naik Suresh, posted in Kargil.

Today, he would be taken to his native place Munroethuruthu in Kollam district, to perform the funeral.

Sudheesh is survived by his parents Brahmaputhran and Pushpavalli, wife Shalumol and a four-month-old daughter.

In the previous Cabinet meeting, it was decided to provide Rs 25 lakh as solatium to his family and a government job to his wife.
