According to intelligence sources, undoubtedly, there will be rise in infiltration attempts from across the border by terrorists disrupting peace in Jammu and Kashmir especially in view of festive season. “As per reports, more than 100 trained militants are camping across different launching pads to sneak inside the Indian territory to carry out spectacular strikes during the festive season so the question of lowering of guards does not arise. On the contrary, security grid is further needed to be intensified,'' sources in Jammu told the media.
They said apart from surgical strikes by Indian Army in PoK, the attempts will also be made in view of ensuing winter season as passes would be closed due to heavy snowfall. “As the traditional infiltration routes get closed due to snowfall and terrorists, in view of that, make hard attempts to enter into the Indian territory,” the sources said and added that but this time the situation along the borders is more volatile and rise of bid to cross over to this side cannot be ruled out even from untraditional routes.
“There should not be any lowering of guards especially when festivals like Diwali, Dussehra, Durga Pooja are around the corner,” they said and added that various agencies operational in the state, have been conveyed about it. Ever since the number of border migrants putting up at relief camps has gone down complacency has set in the system as majority of people think Pakistan is finding it difficult to mount a fresh offensive against India along the IB and deliberately focusing its attention along the LoC.
“Even after the state government has decided to reopen the schools in bordering hamlets, the attendance remain thin and life remain paralysed in forward border villages,” the sources said, adding that at this juncture, atmosphere is not conducive along the borders and cross-border terrorism will witness increase manifolds ahead.
