Politicos condole loss of lives in train mishap

Political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi condoled the loss of lives in the train derailment in Andra Pradesh.

Prime Minister Modi termed the mishap as 'saddening' and wished those injured a speedy recovery. "My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones due

to derailment of Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Express. The tragedy is saddening," he said a tweet. In another tweet, he said, "I pray for a speedy recovery of all those injured due to the train accident". 

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also express his grief. "I am deeply saddened over the mishap... My government is extending all support as far as the accident is concerned," he said after the review meeting.

"I have instructed the chief secretary, the DGP and the health secretary to fly at once to Rayagada. I have just spoken to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh to extend all support," Patnaik said. "My deepest condolences to the families of those who died in the accident," the Chief Minister added.

In a message, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his condolences as well. He said, "I extend condolences to the bereaved families of those killed in the tragic accident...I pray for speedy recovery of those injured".

Similarly, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Congress president Sonia Gandhi also expressed their griefs. Conveying her "heartfelt condolences" to the bereaved families, Mahajan prayed for speedy recovery of those who were injured in the accident, according to a statement issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat. 

Sonia Gandhi expressed her condolences for the families who lost their loved ones and said she was saddened by the loss of lives. The Congress leader also expressed concern over the rising number of train accidents and hoped that Railway authorities and state government are undertaking the relief and rescue operations expeditiously besides providing medical help.

At least 36 passengers lost their lives as nine coaches of Hirakhand Express derailed near Kuneru station in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district last night.
