NEET-2017 will count as first attempt: CBSE
In a move that will bring cheer to thousands of students aspiring to get admission to MBBS or BDS courses, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) clarified that attempts made by candidates for AIPMT/NEET prior to 2017 would not be counted and, appearance in NEET-2017 would be counted as their first attempt, irrespective of their previous attempts in AIPMT/NEET.

A month-long window opened on January 31 for acceptance of online applications for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (UG)-2017 (NEET (UG)-2017) that will be conducted by the CBSE on May 7 in 80 cities across the country for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in India.
The test is conducted as per the Indian Medical Council Act-1956 as amended in 2016 and the Dentists Act-1948 as amended in 2016 for admission to medical and dental colleges run with the approval of the Medical Council of India and the Dental Council of India under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament such as AIIMS and JIPMER, Puducherry. This year, admission for all the MBBS/BDS seats would be made through NEET (UG) 2017.
Accordingly, admissions will be made in All India Quota Seats, State Government Quota Seats, State/ Management/ NRI Quota Seats in Private Medical / Dental Colleges or any Private/ Deemed University and Central Pool Quota Seats, it said.In its admission notice of January 31, the CBSE had said that candidates who had already availed of the permissible three attempts would not be able to apply for NEET (UG)-2017.
