Sisters drown in Kalisindh river in Shajapur

They were identified as Sonam (12) and Monica (9), said police.

The sisters had gone to the river to immerse Sanjha (a popular 15-day-long festival celebrated by unmarried girls by drawing different images using cowdung and other colourful material in Malwa region) when the incident took place, Salsalai police station in-charge RS Sharma said.

They were rescued from the river water and rushed to a hospital where doctors declared them brought dead, said police.
