Cannabis consignments seized in Tripura
In a joint operation with police, BSF seized a huge consignment of cannabis worth of Rs 25 lakh from Ramchera village of Bishalgarh under Sepahijala district in west Tripura last night.

The consignment of dry cannabis leaf weighting 494 kg was recovered from the house of Prafulla Adhikari (38), which was clandestinely kept in an underground godown of his house. Allegedly, the contraband items were used to store ganja illegally in his house for smuggling to hinterland in India and cross the border to Bangladesh.
According to BSF, the cannabis was stored few months ago to illegally trade. Police registered a case against him but not arrested yet.
In another search, police recovered a total of 50 packets of cannabis from Air India cargo flight from Agartala airport yesterday. The seizure worth the value of Rs 1.5 lakh but no one is arrested so far in this connection.
A week ago, about 50 kg cannabis was recovered from Agartala post office while dispatching to Kolkata.
