Gang murders Congress leader in Union Territory
Puducherry North District Congress President was hacked to death by an unidentified gang at Bommayarpalayam in Villippuram district of Tamil Nadu near here on Monday.

According to police, Joseph (44) was riding on his motor cycle when the gang, said to be hired killers, blocked his vehicle and hacked him. A seriously injured Joseph was taken to the government general hospital here, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Police registered a case and started investigation.
Joseph is the Puducherry Vice-President of INTUC and Congress Trade Union leader in Shasun Drugs, Chemfab Alkalis. Police suspect some trade union problems to be the cause for the murder.
It may be noted that Joseph supported the expansion plans of Sashun Drugs. However, the fishermen of the area opposed it and a violence erupted recently.
