The prisoners were protesting against the alleged refusal of the authorities to grant them parole.
The prisoners began their fast on December 5 and they refused to call off their protest inspite of talks held by the prison authorities. Undertrial prisoners also joined the fast on Friday.
Two of the convicted prisoners, Selvam and Vadivel, were admitted to the government general hospital as their condition deteriorated. However, the other five prisoners were admitted to the Jail hospital on Friday evening.
