It is people’s victory, says Narayanasamy
Welcoming the ruling of the Madras High Court that Puducherry Lt Governor do not have any right to interfere in the day-to-day affairs of the administration, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Tuesday said that this is a ruling for the people of Puducherry.

The CM said a five judges Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court, in a case filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, ruled that the Lt Governor do not have any special powers and should cooperate with the elected government to ensure the development of the union territory. It also ruled that the decision of the cabinet is final.
Narayanasamy said when he wrote to the Union Home Ministry citing this judgment that it would be applicable for Puducherry too, the Home Ministry maintained that the Lt Governor has special powers in Puducherry.
Lakshminarayanan moved the Madras High Court opposing this and senior lawyers like Chidambaram, Gopalan and Sunderasan appeared in the case.
The High Court judge on Tuesday observed that the Lt Governor do not have any special powers and it wrest with the elected government.
