Post-poll violence continued in various parts of West Bengal as reports of attack on a state minister's convoy, beating up of ruling TMC workers and ransacking party offices allegedly by BJP workers poured in, officials said Sunday.
Forest Minister Binay Krishna Burman's convoy was attacked by those allegedly belonging to the BJP following which he was rescued by police who rushed to the place, they said.
Violent incidents were also reported from Dinhata in Coochbehar, Paharpur in Jalpaiguri and Gangarampur Dakshin Dinajpur, sources in the state police department said.
"We are looking into the incidents. At certain places, we have taken necessary action. Police pickets have also been set up," a senior police officer said.
Extra police forces have been sent to Bhatpara and Kankinara in North 24 Parganas district following a clash between TMC and BJP workers there, he added.
