Pondicherry University releases book on distance education
Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gurmeet Singh released a book ‘Distance Education: Prospects, Challenges and Way Forward,’ on Monday. The book was edited by Prof. Sibnath Deb, Department of Applied Psychology, PU and Prof. Vimala Veeraraghavan of Delhi University.

According to a release from the university, the book discusses the history of distance education, its prospects and opportunities in India. In addition, the book highlights various challenges in implementing the courses under distance mode based on first-hand experience of the editors and other contemporary issues, apart from offering solution in addressing the challenges.
Combining the rich experience of professionals working in the field of distance education for a long time with the perception of young scholars, the book presents the holistic views about various aspects of distance education with special reference to Indian Open and Distance Learning Scenario.
The book will be very useful and beneficial for the administrators of Directorates of Distance Education of the universities, policy makers at the national level, scholars and students, both current and prospective students to learn more about the subject.
Perhaps this is the first volume of this kind in the country which combined chapters based on secondary and first-hand experience of the academics and researchers, the release said.
