Maha Govt not to cut trees till Oct 21: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has given a temporary reprieve to agitators who are against tree felling in Aarey forests, wherein the Maharashtra govt wants to build a shed for Metro operations to de-congest the city of Mumbai.

The special bench of the Supreme Court heard the plea on tree felling in the Aarey forests, north of Mumbai and has ordered to stop the tree-felling till 21 October 2019. It has also asked for the papers to prove  that the area falls under 'eco sensitive zone'.
