A three-time MLA (1991, 1996 and 2006), Goswami was state PWD minister from 1996 to 2001 and again from 2006 to 2011 during the fifth and seventh Left Front ministry respectively.

Revolutionary Socialist Party General Secretary and former West Bengal minister Kshiti Goswami died at the Chennai Apollo Hospital on Sunday following a heart attack, party sources said. He was 76.
Goswami is survived by his wife and only daughter.
The senior Left Front leader had got admitted to the hospital for the treatment of a throat ailment, but complained of chest pain on Saturday night, and passed away on Sunday.
Goswami entered politics by joining the student movement in Balurghat of present South Dinajpur district.
Later, he came to Kolkata and rose to become the state Secretary of the RSP.

Condoling his death, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called it an "irreparable loss" for politics.
