Haryana plans to rev up religious tourism

In order to boost religious tourism in Haryana, the government is making plans to woo tourists within the country and abroad by beefing up infrastructure in Kurukshetra.

A spokesperson for the Tourism department on Sunday said, “It has been decided by the government that Rs 38.31 crore will be spent on beautification of ‘Brahma Sarover’ and Rs 32.33 crore on ‘Jyotisar ‘under various schemes.” 

He added, “Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme of the Central government, Rs 97.34 crore had been allocated for the development of ‘Sri Krishna Circuit’ out of which Rs 32 crore had been spent on the development of ‘Brahma Sarovar’, ‘Jyotisar’, ‘Narkaataari’, ‘Sanniihit Sarovar’ and beautification of ‘Kurukshetra’ city.”
