Mumbai rout Saurashtra by innings to win 41st Ranji Trophy title
Mumbai won the Ranji Trophy title for the 41st time on Friday when they trounced Saurashtra by an innings and 21 runs.

After taking a solid 136-run first-innings lead, the Mumbai bowlers came swooping down on the Saurashtra batsmen on the third day to take wickets at regular intervals. Mumbai needed only 48.2 overs in the second innings to bundle out Saurashtra for 115. Shardul Thakur took five for 26 for Mumbai in the second innings. BS Sandhu started the rout when he dismissed Barot for four, trapping him lbw with a ball that nipped back sharply. Kulkarni got into the act in the seventh over when he sent back Jogiyani to leave Saurashtra on 15-2. Jogiani tried to guide a ball down to third man and edged to Thakkar at third slip. First-innings hero Vasavada did not last long getting out to Sandhu for 3 as Saurashtra slumped to 24 for three.
When Nayar dismissed Jackson, Saurashtra were 48 for four and three overs later the curtain virtually came down on them when Cheteshwar Pujara fell to Thakur for 27. Thakur took one more wicket when Shah played one away from the body and nicked the ball to the keeper. Thakur then added CS Jani, DS Punia and HR Rathod to his list of victims to complete the rout. Earlier, Siddesh Lad stroked his way to 88 and added 103 runs for the last wicket with BS Sandhu (34) to give Mumbai a huge lead in the first innings.
