You have been a professional cricketer and then moved to sports commentary. How has the journey been so far?
Coming from a sports family, I always have been interested in sports. When I got to be a part of a sports revolution like Pro-Kabaddi League, I jumped at the opportunity. It has been an enriching experience and eventually I took up commentary for ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Hero Indian Super League Football and the Hero Hockey India League.
What do you enjoy the most about commentary?
I love getting up every morning, researching and then giving my audience something interesting to listen to while watching a match. I love creating my own narrative for commentary and balance it with whole lot of spontaneity on the field.
Did you expect Pro-Kabaddi to be a massive hit?
I have witnessed the transition of India’s very own sport from its roots on the mud to the phenomenon that it is today – on the purple mat to cheering fans at stadiums across the country. We knew a local contact sport like kabaddi has a huge potential.
