The skipper said the team is set for an intriguing contest on Wednesday. “We are all set for the match. We have practised hard for two weeks. Unfortunately, the covers are still on the wicket and I haven’t had a look at the pitch. But considering the Chennai wicket, it will be a high-scoring match,” Sathish said.

The team coach said though the team is new, he had a look at some of his players in the last two months and he knows their skills. “We had a T20 tournament in May or June. That was when I had a look at some players. These guys haven’t played that much of T20 cricket. It is up to these (TNPL) tournaments to encourage players to start playing differently. The exposure these players have might not be high as of now but that is where the TNPL comes into play. We might soon see a expert player in this format,” Badani said.

Badani said it was for his team mates to understand the importance of having a cool head. “It is a new tournament, the first of its kind. It is a big game under lights and it is like a mini-IPL. There will be added pressure on the players and that is where seniors in the team come into play. We need to emphasize the fact that it is a cricket match and they need to watch the ball and play and not forget the basics. It is a great opportunity for them and it is play time now,” the coach added.
