Speaking to the TNPL website, Malolan said Aparajith and himself stuck to basics when building their partnership. “We were about 69 runs behind and at that point of time we aimed to get 50 runs in five overs. We didn’t try anything extra in the partnership and also had luck on our sides,” he said. Malolan, who will lead the side in the absence of Aparajith (away on Duleep Trophy duty), said  it was a huge void to fill. The all-rounder said it was nice to get a win in their first match. “Winning the first game will us momentum for this format is all about it. We will aim to push on further,” he added.
