Talking about the Super Over, did you plan your players in advance?

No, we did not plan those things. We did not expect the match to go to a Super Over.

Do you think you should have finished off the match to avoided a Super Over?

I think I did a decent job. I did not want to hit the ball in the air. At least, I wanted to get a Super Over and tie. I wanted to hit the ball to mid-wicket so that I could try and take two runs but it didn’t happen.

You seemed to have suffered from cramps?

It’s okay; it’s better but it’s not fully gone.

Your brother (Aparajith) scored a hundred. Do you have any similar targets?

We don’t have such targets but after his hundred I spoke to him yesterday and I told him because of him there is a lot of expectation on me.

Are you chasing hundred too in TNPL?

It’s not so easy to hit hundred in a T20 game. Yesterday, he (B Aparajith) played a blistering knock but you can’t score a hundred every day.

Your fielding was good. Did your team specially work on anything in particular?

Actually, in our team we have youngsters and seniors . When this Kanchi side was formed, we focused on our fitness and fielding for the first week and I think that paid off.

You batted at No 5. Any reason?

I wanted to go after the sixth over and control the innings. But there were a lot of early wickets in the six overs. I was planning to go at No. 4, but based on the situation it will change.
