Extras proved costly: Anirudha
Karaikudi Kaalai all rounder Anirudha Srikkanth felt his team conceded too many extras in the match against Chepauk Super Gillies on Sunday. He said it was criminal to give away 25 extras in a total of 195 and a total without that, say 170, was a par score for the course.

EXCERPTS:
On whether S Badrinath could have anchored the innings
I was definitely very upset with myself. When I first saw the big screen, I thought I had reached the crease. To be honest I was watching the ball well, got a six off the first ball itself. That’s a big problem. When you have a lot of youngsters in the side, being senior members of the team, Badri and I had to bat through. In the last two games, both of us have not stepped up to our potential. If we both do so and youngsters can bat around us, then we can definitely upset a few teams.
On Gillies going after the Kaalai bowling despite losing wickets
When you concede so many extras, it puts the bowler under added pressure. If you see, we bowled three good balls and then conceded three wides in the same over. So it cancels out all the good work. This ground has very small boundaries and with the wicket being so good, you are bound to get a boundary every over on this ground. They batted well, but we should also accept that we gave away too many extras.
On Kaalai opener Vijay Kumar
He got probably one of the best starts in the tournament and smacked the ball everywhere. With experience, I’m sure he will improve.
