Players downplay Kishore-Jagadeesan spat
T20 cricket could raise the temper of the players in many ways. In several on-field spats, teammates and umpires have to intervene. One such spat during Thursday’s match at the NPR College Ground sent a high adrenalin rush. And, it would have been more for the players who were at the middle.

In the 16th over of the innings, Chepauk Super Gillies spinner R Sai Kishore had Dindigul Dragons batsman N Jagadeesan miscue a shot to short third man. What followed was a complete fiasco as the batsman and the bowler exchanged a few words.
The verbal argument turned physical when Kishore pushed Jagadeesan in front of Dindigul skipper R Ashwin. When Jagadeesan tried to give it back to Kishore, Ashwin instructed Jagadeesan to get back to the dug-out. CSG captain R Sathish, teammates and the umpires rushed to get things under control as Ashwin was furious at Kishore. Ashwin later went into the huddle in which the Super Gillies were celebrating the wicket and gave a piece of his mind to the bowler.
Later, Ashwin downplayed the issue. “They are all young kids and it all happened in the heat of the moment. Also, Kishore bowled very well to take the wicket of Jagadeesan. At that stage, anybody would get pumped up and that’s what happened. Both the captains did very well to diffuse the situation, and it is not called for, but then we need to give them a bit of levy,” Ashwin said.
Kishore’s team-mate and CSG opener Thalaivan Sargunam too defended Kishore. “He was all fired up. He was a bit aggressive. He is learning the job and it is over in the middle. I don’t think we need to look deep into the issue,” Thalaivan said.
