India A lose series to Australia A

The fourth and final day’s play between India A and Australia A was called off without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain and a wet outfield as the second unofficial Test ended in a draw with the home side clinching the two-match series 1-0 here.

The drawn outcome means Australia A take the honours in the two-match series, having earned a three-wicket win last week at the same venue. India A had ended the third day at 158 for 4, still 108 behind Australia A’s first-innings score of 435. The visitors had scored 169 all out in their first innings on the first day.

The Australians were well placed to make it two-nil heading into the fourth and final day today, needing six wickets to win the match, while India A still required another 109 runs to make the hosts bat again. Fast bowler Hardik Pandya made 79 on day one to prop up the tourists in their disappointing total of 169, while the impressive Shardul Thakur claimed 5/101 in Australia A’s first innings.
