Sandeep Narwal brought the first raid points for the hosts in the second minute. Iran got back into the match almost immediately when their skipper Meraj Sheykh reviewed a touch on Anup Kumar.
India came back on level terms when Ajay Thakur made a strong raid to make it 3-3. India then upped the ante with lovely defensive work to deny Iran with a successful raid at 5-5.
It was no looking back for the visitors as they dominated the first half completely and Iran led 1813 at the break.
It was a different scenario post the break and Ajay Thakur sizzled as India got the difference down to one at 19-20. Iran’s final raid failed and India ran away with the match at 38-29.
