Ashwin in record books again
R Ashwin might have lost his place as the number one Test bowler to Ravindra Jadeja but that did not stop him from setting yet another record on Saturday, of most wickets — 79 in a Test season. Ashwin went past Dale Steyn’s tally of 78 which was set a decade ago.

Ashwin got rid of Australia captain Steve Smith for 111 in the second session in the ongoing Test to pick his 79th victim.
The 30-year-old picked up 28 wickets in the series versus England, where the hosts hammered the visitors 4-0 and before that he picked up 27 scalps versus New Zealand as India whitewashed the Kiwis. He also took six wickets against Bangladesh.
The off-spinner has had a staggering time with the ball in the past few years, having finished as the highest wicket-taker across all three formats of the game with 97 scalps in 31 matches at an average of 22.89. His exploits with the ball also earned him his maiden ICC Test Cricketer of the Year as well as the International Cricketer of the Year awards.
The Tamil Nadu spinner has been in phenomenal form this season by becoming the fastest to reach 250 wickets going past Dennis Lillee and Dale Steyn.
