Pandey, Axar shine as India B beat Tamil Nadu

Manish Pandey hit his sixth first-class century and Axar Patel chipped in with a fine all-round performance as India B beat Tamil Nadu by 32 runs to win their second match in a row at the Deodhar Trophy.

Half-centuries from Shikhar Dhawan and Axar, and Pandey’s 104 took India B to 316 for 8 in their 50 overs. In reply, Tamil Nadu rode on Kaushik Gandhi’s century to remain in the hunt but eventually fell short, finishing on 284 in 48.4 overs. Axar finished with 3 for 53, while Dhawal Kulkarni bagged two late wickets to end with 3 for 45. The win put India B in the final, to be played on Wednesday, where they will face the winners of Monday’s game between India A and Tamil Nadu.

India B 316/8 in 50 overs (Manish Pandey 104, Shikhar Dhawan 50, Axar Patel 51, R Sai Kishore 4/60) bt Tamil Nadu 284 in 48.4 overs (Kaushik Gandhi 124, N Jagadeesan 64, Axar Patel 3/53, Dhawal Kulkarni 3/45).
