Ahead of the match, CSG off-spinner J Joel Joseph spoke about the mood in the camp and his TNPL experience.

How is the team’s morale after the last defeat?

We are taking one match at a time. One defeat doesn’t make much of a difference. It was a good match as we fought till the end. We could have won it had we bowled well and restricted our opponents to 150-160.

What do you have to say about the inconsistency in your batting line-up?

Our batsmen are in good form, but the situation they get out to bat in has not been always great. Be it ODIs or T20s, a batsman requires at least two or three overs to settle down before going after the bowlers. Plus, if our batsmen click, it will be a great sight to watch, especially our captain (Rajagopal Sathish).

How was your experience playing in the TNPL for the first time?

This year, since all teams are playing left-arm spinners, opponents have started playing many left-handers. That is why it is essential the teams have an off-spinner now. I didn’t play the first game but I got my chance in the second. Although TNPL is similar to playing in first division leagues, the fact that we play in front of the large crowd makes the experience even better.
