Kirit Panchal takes opening day honours

Opener Priyank Kirit Panchal scored a fluent century (105) as India Red, opting to bat, made 232 for five on the opening day of its Duleep Trophy match against India Green here at Ekana International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

The Gujarat batsman faced 228 balls and hit 12 fours and put on 83 runs for the first wicket with SD Chatterjee (52). Jaggi (23) added 75 runs for the second wicket with Panchal but India Red lost four wickets quickly including that of Rishabh Pant. 

Former India middle-order batsman Karun Nair and M Vijay picked up two wickets each for India Green. Dinesh Karthik was batting on 15 at stumps.
