The 20-year-old Mukund, ranked 501 in the ATP list currently, quelled the challenge of the big-serving Khade, who had done well in the two previous Futures events in Chennai.

Stroking fluently on both flanks, the top seed kept his rival on the run with strong groundstrokes.

Khade, who had pulled off a upset by beating second seed Colin Van Beem of the Netherlands in the quarter-final, faltered at crucial junctures in the final against Mukund.

Mukund and Khade had teamed up for the doubles but lost in the final to Chandril and Lakshit Sood, yesterday.

Result: Singles (final): Sasi Kumar Mukund (1) beat Arjun Khade 6-3, 6-4.
