Premier Badminton League Chennai leg from January 5
As the country braces up for the grander third edition of the Premier Badminton League, starting on December 23, Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Indoor Stadium will host league matches on five consecutive days from January 5 to 9.

This will give the badminton enthusiasts of the state to flock to the stadium not just to watch their home team in action but also witness the enthralling action from the other seven teams in fray.
The organisers of the richest badminton league in the world, Sportzlive Entertainment, revealed this here on Friday. This will mean that the crowd at the stadium can witness at least 2 or 3 home matches which will remain subjective to the final schedule.
Chennai, home to defending champions Chennai Smashers, will also play host to league ties on five consecutive days which may see all the teams come and display their brilliance with the shuttle in the revamped JLN Indoor Stadium. It makes it a true bonanza for local badminton fans, especially as World No. 5 English Mixed Doubles pair Chris Adcock and Gabrielle Acock along with Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu will be leading their challenge. The final is slated to be held on January 14, 2018. The 23-day long PBL will pit the world’s best players against each other, with eight franchises in fray this year.
‘‘We are glad to have Chennai back on PBL›s map,” Atul Pande, the man behind the league, said. “The fans there are the most vociferous and I am positive that the city will turn it into a truly spectacular show.
Atul Pande thanked Sports Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) for their support. “We wouldn›t have been able to plan something so grand without their support,’’ he said.
‘‘We can’t wait to bring PBL to Chennai which is the largest venue out of all the ones we have. The fans here are extremely knowledgeable and will be vociferous watching their home team and captain Sindhu playing in front of the. It will surely be an awe-inspiring experience for the all of us as well,’’ Prasad Mangipudi, the co-owner of Sportzlive Entertainment explained.
