Both Shri and Shoib resorted to safety play pushing the reds below blue spot and putting the cue ball closer to top cushion. The scrappy frame went to Shrikrishna with a scoreline of 68-16. In the second frame, Shrikrishna got into a good position and made a break of 68 missing a red with the cue ball too close to pink and six reds in the open. Shoib played an erratic shot on the black missing it while going for table clearance. Shoib conceded the frame at 40-75.
Shoib went out of position on a color at 36 in the third frame and then followed with a 20 taking the score 56-22. The gutsy Shrikrishna made a break of 38 clearing the table and won the frame.
The shaken Shoib made a bad opening in the fourth frame and gave a red to Shrikrishna, who made a 28 and then a 42 later, going out of position. However, the scoreboard was reading 81-0 in favour of Shrikrishna. Shrikrishna play the semi-finals on Sunday.
Earlier in the day Shrikrishna beat Ansh Chopra of J&K 3-1 with breaks of 47 and 63. In the National Junior Snooker Girls semi-finals, Anupama Ramachandran of TN lost 0-2 to Keerthana Pandian of Karnataka. Anupama was grappling with some problem with the tip in her cue and could not strike.
