Southern Railway men, Kerala Police women lift All-India volleyball trophies

Southern Railway men’s team and Kerala Police women’s team lifted the 26th TMB Trophy All-India volleyball tournament for men and women in Thoothukudi.

In the finals conducted on Sunday, Kerala Police women’s team played against Sports Authority of India(SAI), Kerala, in the all Kerala final. The match was well fought between the teams. Though Kerala Police team won the first set 25-20, SAI bounced back to win the second set 25-22. 

However, the third set was won rather easily by Kerala Police 2519 and the fourth set was fought tough. Finally, Kerala Police won the set 26-24 and took the title. The winners were given Rs 50,000 while the runners-up pocketed Rs 30,000. 

The men’s final was expected to be a tougher battle between Southern Railway and SRM but Southern Railway won the match in three straight sets. The first two sets were cakewalk for the Railway team but in the third set SRM waged a tough battle. In the end Southern Railways won the match with the score 35-33 and lifted the trophy. The winners bagged the rolling trophy and cash price of Rs 75,000 while the runners-up pocketed Rs 50,000. Also, individual prices for best attackers, best setters, best libero, best universal and best blocker in both men and women categories were awarded.
