Veerans suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Karaikudi Kaalai on Thursday, a day after Dragons registered a dominating win over Kovai Kings at the same venue. It was Dragons’ second successive win in the third edition as it overhauled Kovai Kings’ 185 with eight wickets to spare and 14 balls remaining.
NS Chaturved played an explosive 72 (36b) and was well supported by Narayan Jagadeesan 66 n.o. (50b). Dragons will miss its captain Ravichandran Ashwin going into the fourth match as he leaves for England for the upcoming Test series. Jagadeesan will lead in the ace off-spinner’s absence.
Veerans lost its first four wickets within the powerplay against Kaalai and failed to recover. It will look to better its performances this time around.
Sanjay Yadav scored a quick-fire 27 (13b) but it could not stop Veerans from crashing to an eight-wicket defeat. Being a young team, Veerans will look to make a spirited comeback especially with experienced coach Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan signing up for it.
