Kovai Kings looks to extend winning streak
Kovai Kings will be hoping to extend its successful run in the 2018 Sankar Cement-Tamil Nadu Premier League when it takes on winless Kanchi Veerans at the ICL Sankar Nagar ground in Tirunelveli on Sunday.

Kovai Kings was convincing winner in its last two matches with spectacular performances across all departments. On the other hand, Kanchi Veerans remain winless after four matches. Against Madurai Panthers in its previous game, Kanchi Veerans managed to stage a comeback in the middle overs by picking up five wickets for 35 runs but lost control in the final over by giving away 19 runs.
The slow start by Kanchi Veerans batsmen then hampered the team’s chances of chasing down 168 and it eventually fell 11 runs short. With the ‘Playoff’ spot contention ruled out, Veerans will be hoping to express itself better in the coming matches. In contrast, Kovai Kings will be eyeing the top spot in the points table if it grabs full points against Kanchi Veerans.
Kovai Kings’ opener M Shahrukh Khan is leading the tournament’s run-tally with 267 runs in five matches and his partnerships with Abhinav Mukund have been setting solid platforms for the side. The bowling department has also delivered outstanding results in the previous two matches with the three spinners, S Ajith Ram, MP Rajesh and S Manigandan, extremely well supported by the medium-pace duo of T Natarajan and K Vignesh.
