Questioning her silence on the reported seizure of Rs 2,000 notes to the tune of Rs 20 lakh reportedly from a BJP functionary in Salem, Thirunavukkarasar wondered where from Soundararajan, who had been skirting questions about the seizure, sourced money for constructing party offices in all districts. “Who did they collect the money from? Where did they collect?” he asked, demanding a transparent answer from her on the issue. Launching his usual offensive against the Modi regime on the demonetisation issue, the TNCC chief referred to section 271 of I-T Act that provides for collecting 132% penalty from tax evaders and said the ruling BJP has reduced the penal tax to 50%. Seeking to know if it (IT Act amendment) were a measure taken to fight or protect black money. Claiming that he had not come across any report showing the rich and corporates as suffering due to demonetisation and said that it was only the poor tax paying citizens who have been suffering.
