The petitioner Vimaladevi (23), a native of Valavanthankottai near Thiruverumbur, said that her husband Sudhakar (35), left for Dubai through one Paramasivam an agent from Tiruchy in September 2016. A month after his departure from Chennai airport, reportedly working as a welder in a Dubai-based firm, the victim Sudhakar sent a sum of Rs 9,000 to his family back in Tiruchy. Meanwhile on November 28, the employers of the victim have contacted the family here in Tiruchy and conveyed that the victim Sudhakar would be reaching Tiruchy airport by November 29.

“I was told by the employers that my husband would be sent back to Tiruchy as he was not sound in his mental health. But on the said date, my husband did not land in Tiruchy airport. Recently on November 30, my husband informed that he is being tortured by his employers at an unidentified place in Dubai. We do not know about his whereabouts.” she said. The family has sought the help of the district administration to pursue diplomatic efforts for bringing the victim safely back from his workplace in Dubai.
