Madurai

In the first incident in Madurai, Rajalakshmi (55), from Madurai, who was lending money was murdered by a person whose mother had borrowed money from Rajalakshmi. The incident happened in the morning when Ganesan, son of Indirani, who had borrowed a sum of Rs.2 lakhs had gone to Rajalakshmi’s house.

As soon as Rajalakhsmi saw him, she began to abuse him verbally and warned him of police action. She threatened to file a case against him. When the dispute intensified, Ganesan slit her throat with a knife and Rajalakshmi died on the spot. Police claimed that though Indirani had been returning small sums at frequent intervals, Rajalakshmi had demanded the remaining amount as a single payment. Recently Indirani was verbally harassed by Rajalakshmi and hence Ganesan had gone to  inquire about the financial transactions when the murder took place.

At Vellikulam

In the second incident, a man was murdered owing to previous enmity at Vellikulam in Tirunelveli district. The incident happened in the morning when the deceased Karupparasamy was traveling in a two-wheeler at Vellikulam. On the outskirts of the village a gang intercepted him and hacked him to death. Police claimed that Karuppasamy’s wife, Palkani, had eloped with Ganesan of Pappankulam village and hence Karuppasamy had murdered Ganesan’s wife Saraswathi. Following the incident Karuppasamy was arrested and recently he was out on bail. Taking advantage of the situation, Ganesan’s brother Karthikeyan along with his aides murdered him. A murder case had been filed and police are in search of the accused, claimed sources.
