Pondy CM urges centre to form CMB
Welcoming the Supreme Court judgement that it has powers to set up the Cauvery Management Board (CMB), Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Saturday urged the Centre to take immediate steps towards it.

Talking to newspersons here, Narayanasamy recalled the Supreme Court direction to Karnataka to release 2000 cusecs of water for Tamil Nadu and urged the Centre to ensure that Karaikal region of the Union territory receives 7 tmc of water, the due share as per the Cauvery Water Tribunal award.
Saying that the Puducherry government has decided to increase the taxes on drinking water and drainage services, he added that Cabinet has approved the hike. The increased taxes would be notified in the gazette shortly, he said.
The CM said a decision to disburse DA at the rate of 2 per cent was also taken and it will be given to the employees along with the current month salary. It would cost Rs 2.4 crore more to exchequer, he said.
