The junior resident doctor joined the institute in the last week of June this year. On July 10, he was found dead under suspicious circumstances in his rented apartment in Delhi. A lethal injection was found in the apartment. His father Ganesan alleged that even during counselling for the MD course Saravanan was threatened by some doctors in AIIMS. “A week later the autopsy report clearly stated that my son was murdered by administering a lethal injection. But the Delhi police have registered it as a case of suicide. Due to delay in altering the case as murder I moved the Delhi High Court. Five weeks ago the court asked the Delhi police to register the case as a murder setting a deadline,” Ganesan said.
“But even after the deadline has passed and more than five months after the murder, the case is yet to be altered. We suspect that the Delhi police could be trying to protect the accused. So we want the CBI to probe the matter,” he said. The grieving father said that they petitioned the Prime Minister on the death of their son. He said that they got an acknowledgement from the PM’s office saying that the petition was forwarded to the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu. “So far we have not got any support from the state. We will soon make a representation to the new Chief Secretary and seek legal aid to fight for the cause,” he added.
