Sources said, while the immigration officials were in the process of verifying passengers bound for Riyadh in Saudi Arabia by Sri Lankan Airways, they found that there was a fake employment entry for one year in Singapore and took it up for interrogation. Mohammed Yasin (29) of Keeranur in Pudukkottai district, a driver by profession was identified.
It is said, he had worked abroad for two years (201213) and was eligible to get ECNR for at least three years employment in abroad. Since he had studied only up to class 8 chances for being employed abroad was slim. Since, he needed one more year for getting ECNR, he reportedly approached an agent in Tiruchy who had made a fake employment certificate and stamping. Upon his confession, the immigration officials handed him over to the airport police. He was lodged in the prison after producing before the Court. A search is on for the agent who made fake documents.
