The Forest and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) departments made the arrangement following a strong protest by the mahouts of the pachyderms.
So far, 33 elephants have come for the 9th edition of the camp that began on Thursday.
“Our jumbos could not bear the soaring temperature as the camp has been organised very late this year. On Friday (the second day of the camp), we demanded tents to protect the animals as the tree cover is inadequate at the camp due to the drought. Bathing them (elephants) twice a day was not sufficient to keep them comfortable,” a mahout said.
