Madurai Bench of Madras High Court had directed actor Dhanush to appear at the Court on February 28 in connection with the plea of the Melur couple who had claimed that Dhanush was their son.
Karthiresan and Meenakshi, had filed a petition in Melur Judicial Magistrate Court claiming that Dhanush was their son and had been ran away from the house years ago and have been demanding monetary aid.
Dhanush had filed a counter affidavit in High Court claiming that he was born on July 28, 1983, at Egmore Children Hospital at Chennai but the couple claimed that he was born on November 7, 1985, at Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital. Dhanush also claimed that his original name was Venkatesh Prabhu and had completed his education at a private school at Saligramam at Chennai. He had no connection with Melur and the case was frivolous.
In the previous hearing, the Court had directed Dhanush to undergo medical examination to check whether the physical marks claimed by the couple were present in his body.
In the hearing, on Friday, the counsel of Dhanush had said that he had no such marks. But the counsel of the couple said that the birth certificate submitted by Dhanush was obtained only in 1993 and Dhanush had claimed that he had changed his name from Venkatesh Prabhu to Dhanush in 2003 but in his first movie in 2002 his name was published as Dhanush. After the argument High Court Judges said that as the physical marks on Dhanush’s body need to be examined he should appear at the court on February 28 and adjourned the case.
