“We have 12 MLAs with us and if we get five more votes, this government will cease to exist,” he said addressing party workers at the Greenways Road residence of former chief minister O Panneerselvam on Saturday. However, he emphasised that the was not predicting an early election. Panneerselvam while addressing the gathering said, “it is not our intention to break the party. We want AIADMK to last for thousand years. So, we are doing our best to prevent it from being usurped by one family. We have started this war for it. It is for the people to decide on the future of the party and government.”

Meanwhile, AIADMK party propaganda secretary and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai countered OPS’s claim that he wanted to send late chief minster Jayalalithaa abroad for treatment. “He was the minister who handled Jayalalithaa’s portfolios and was also the chief minister then. Did he convene a meeting with his ministers and sought their views on it,” asked Thambidurai.
In a simultaneous development deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran held a meeting with party seniors and lawyers at the party headquarters and discussed the Election Commission’s letter which rejected the reply signed by Sasikala’s nephew Dinakaran and the next course of action on the issue. EC said Dinakaran is not an office-bearer of the party as per the Commission’s record Sasikala is at present lodged in a Bengaluru jail.
