Addressing media in Thoothukudi on Sunday, he said “I feel that they do not have any good intention for the country and are acting against the interests of the nation. Their backgrounds are highly suspicious and the Centre must investigate it properly.” The Congress government proposed the Hydrocarbon project in March 2014 and the DMK was part of the Union Government. The party said nothing when the then Central government carried out the surveying work in Tamil Nadu, he said. He added that the Prime Minister took over only in May 2014 and the Congress and DMK cannot blame Narendra Modi for this project.

“Now, the parties are opposing the same project proposed by them. They have no right to speak against the Hydrocarbon project,” he charged. Drilling for the present project of extracting Hydrocarbon would be done in 46 places across the country, Neduvasal was one among them. The project would be implemented for 15 years and 22 million cubic metres of Hydrocarbons would be extracted under the scheme. Without knowing the nature of the project, local politicians and protesters were claiming that the Centre is exploiting the people of the state which is far from truth.
