Panneerselvam had submitted the application about a week back requesting permission and the city police had not yet given any reply.
The senior AIADMK rebel leaders headed by Natham Viswanathan and KP Munusamy visited the commissioner’s office on Monday and sought to speed up the procedure. Speaking to the media after meeting the city commissioner of police, the leaders said that they had come only to ‘remind’ the city commissioner about the application. “We just reminded him as the day for the fast protest is only two days away,” Natham Viswanathan said.
The leaders, however, turned down the questions regarding a deliberate delay from the side of the police and walked away without answering.
O Panneerselvam and his team have planned a fast demonstration in all district headquarters on March 8, demanding a fair probe in to the mystery behind Jayalalithaa’s death.
