Justice M Duraiswamy dismissed the petition filed by G Pravina, who unsuccessfully fought as an Independent candidate in the May 16 Assembly elections from RK Nagar constituency from where Jayalalithaa had won.
The petitioner had sought that Jayalalithaa’s election be declared “null and void” alleging that she was not even allowed to campaign in the constituency. When the matter came up for hearing on Wednesday, counsel for Jayalalithaa informed the court about her death following which the judge dismissed the election petition as abated.
